Sir Roland Richardson is among Sint Maarten / Saint Martin’s most respected local artists. He is best known for his outdoor paintings created on location. A native artist with over 50 years of experience, Richardson derives his inspiration mostly from the island’s natural beauty. The red flamboyant tree, for example, is featured in many of his works. His paintings are collected all over the world, and his achievements have been chronicled in a few reputable international publications. Richardson has been honored with a lifetime achievement award from the French government and a Knight of the Order of Oranje by the Court of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.
