The sunny vacation spots of the Caribbean are often on the radar of people looking to get married. St. Maarten ranks high on many wedding planner lists for various phases of the unique process of tying the knot with your loved one. Let us explain why!

Phase 1: Selecting your engagement ring

Many frequent St. Maarten resort guests and experienced cruise visitors postpone purchases of fine jewelry until they arrive on the dual nation Caribbean retreat. This is because the island, most notably Philipsburgs Front Street, is known for the best duty-free shopping in the Caribbean, especially for high end  gems, necklaces and rings for special occasions. Famous stores that are well equipped to find your perfect engagement ring are amongst others Ballerina Jewelers, Dazzling Gems, Diamonds International, Joe’s Jewelry International, Oro Diamanté and Majesty Jewelers (Clearly, as wedlock comes closer, visit these famous jewelry houses again for the perfect wedding ring!).

Phase 2: Proposing

The island’s highly varied landscapes offer quite the variety of scenic and memorable locations to propose to your future partner. Even the famous St. Maarten airport runway was the backdrop of a creative proposal to get married recently. Canadian travel agent magazine GlobalAgents recently nominated Maho Beach, Mullet Bay Beach, Little Bay Beach, Fort Amsterdam and Great Bay Beach as their best St. Maarten proposal spots, depending on your preferences. We would not disagree, but there is so much more options. What about asking for “yes” during a Caribbean sunrise in Oyster Bay Beach or Orient Bay Beach?  Or possibly you would want to select a private one from the 37 beaches on island.

Then, there is plenty romantic locations with a view off the beach too. Consider natural wonders like Davids Bluff or the Natural Pool as scenic start of your marriage-to-be. Scenery galore also from a mountain top at paradise peak, Fort Louis or on the way down from the zipline from Sentry hill. Possibly you find an idyllic uninhabited island like Pinel, Creole Rock or Tintamarre the ideal spot to propose. Sunset Cruise packages are prone to further reduce the chance that he or she will say “no”!

Phase 3: A Truly Caribbean Bachelorette or Bachelors Party

St. Maarten was selected as top Caribbean Bachelorette spot twice over the past years. Needless to say, island nightlife caters to a great night out for bachelors too. Especially the Simpson Bay and Maho areas serve well for a full night at great restaurants followed by fun at the many bars and clubs. During the day, there is a cornucopia of things to do to have the bride or groom to be an outing never to forget. Coastal adventures are readily available on this exotic beach destination to actively celebrate the upcoming union with your inner circle!

Phase 4: The Wedding!

Then, there is many locations that excel as great decor to exchange vows and have matrimony commence. Next to many hotels wholly geared to be a wedding location, local wedding planners often know how to turn any boutique hotel or all-inclusive resort of choice into a unique Caribbean wedding setting befitting your preferences. Many hotels are used to deal with group packages for your guests. By choosing the Caribbean, you give all of them a great excuse for a warm weather vacation, contributing to a great atmosphere to jointly celebrate the new marital status.

Phase 5: Caribbean Honeymoon Hotspot St. Maarten / St. Martin

After being declared husband and wife, there is plenty of choice on this beach paradise to linger and experience your dreamt holidays on the queen of honeymoon beach destinations. Book at one of the exclusive tropical resorts on the dual nation island and stay for some weeks to explore the culture, food and activities on this romantic beach getaway. If your taste leans more towards secluded romantic escapes, consider one of the many villas on island.

Don’t forget to book a beachfront candlelight dining option at your oceanfront honeymoon suite, as you see the sun set into the Caribbean!
