St. Maarten / St. Martin might be a bustling destination, there are also very quiet locations offering peace of mind to those seeking total relaxation when on holidays. Some suggestions where to enjoy whilst avoiding the masses:

1. Happy Bay

With the exception of the yearly SXM Music Festival, Happy Bay beach is quiet and the most famous of St. Maarten hidden beaches/guide at beaches page without beach bars or hotels. You can reach it via also tranquil but slightly more busy Friars Bay Beach.

2. The Lowlands beaches: Long Bay, Plum Bay and Red Bay

With the exception of some famous billionaires residing in the area joining you on the beach, staying on either of these three large beaches guarantees a good day out. Take a book, water and a snack – Long Bay’s La Samanna Hotel is the only restaurant around.

3. Take a boat tour

A great escape from your daily business is taking one of the boat tours of Eagle Tours or Aquamania. They will take pause on pristine beaches, allowing to snorkel and enjoy.

4. Hiking to Pic Paradis

Starting at Loterie Farm, the hike up the island’s highest peak is 424 meters, 1391 feet high. Paradise Peak allows for various great views over French Quarter, also in the directions of Grand Case and Marigot
