Caribbean guilders on Sint Maarten and Curacao

In March 2025 the Caribbean guilder will be introduced as the new official currency of Curacao and Sint Maarten as replacement for The Netherlands Antilles guilder. Even though there were some delays, the Central Bank of Curacao and Sint Maarten is now set to launch the currency with modern security features and distinctive designs.

The Caribbean guilder will be pegged to the U.S. dollar at 1.79 to 1, and the currency will circulate concurrently with the old until fully adopted. The new coins and bills will show colorful images of marine life and landmarks from both countries.

Crane Currency will print the notes, and a public education campaign is being launched to help people learn about the new money and ensure a smooth transition. This change marks a significant step towards strengthening the financial systems of both countries.
