Did You Know… St. Maarten Now Has One Of The Most Advanced Airports of the Kingdom of the Netherlands?

In his speech on November 14th on Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA), Dutch state secretary Zsolt Szabo praised the thoroughly revamped airport as one of the most advanced ones in the Caribbean, and by extension the Dutch kingdom :“One thing we can all agree on today is that we must admit that PJIA now has one of the most sophisticated airport terminals in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.”

 

Just previously, princess Beatrix had reopened the airport with a commemorative plaqueFormer queen Princess Beatrix is a daughter of Princess Juliana, whom the airport is named after. She in turn was queen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands between 1948 and 1980, until Beatrix took over. The Kingdom of the Netherlands consists of four countries: The European Netherlands, St. Maarten, Aruba and Curacao.

 

Amongst the new innovations in the airport are “zero touch” scanning devices at departure, innovative food and VIP lounge concepts amongst others by GCG Group and a new digital ED card system.
