Did You Know… Tortuga Restaurant Is Probably The Worlds Most Viewed Restaurant by Plane Spotters?
Seaside restaurant Tortuga on St. Maarten is not just a great coastal hideaway to take a bite while on holidays, see waves roll in and planes land at Maho Beach, it also yields a secret, poorly kept by the international plane spotter scene. Its live Maho Beach Webcam by ShowMeCaribbean has been an outright hit with global aviation fanatics.
Starting only this year, the site has attracted 3.2 million of visitors watching the (manually directed!) high resolution webcam footage of planes advancing, landing and departing. Whereas the camera actively moves back and forth over Princess Juliana International Airport and the beach all the way from Morgan Resort to Sonesta Maho, one thing is for sure: the palms and terrace of Tortuga are in your face all the time.
The amount of views only underlines Maho Beach’s status as The Ultimate Plane Spotters Paradise, as it was named by Simpleflying this year, so our educated guess is Tortuga is by now the most plane spotted restaurant worldwide.
If you are in for experiencing Mahos famed jet blasts itself, or just a delicious dinner at Tortuga, take a cab or bus to get there! You can also make it easily to the beach and back if you are on island only for a day on a cruise stop.
