Family Fun

Kids and parents alike make happy memories on St. Maarten/St. Martin.

A vacation on St. Maarten/St. Martin is all about fun — for grown-ups and kids alike. With a variety of fun activities and attractions, this multifaceted island has attracted families for generations. Most resorts offer activities to keep children busy on property, but it’s well worth the effort to head out and explore. Here are few top-notch things to do that will please the kids — and every other family member.

Rainforest Adventures

Did you know this island is home to the steepest zip line in the world? The Flying Dutchman zip line is the ultimate challenge for adventurers. Also, take the Sky Explorer chairlift to the highest point on the Dutch side, Sentry Hill, for excellent views of the island. For even more of a rush, tuck into The Schooner, a fast tube ride, down the hillside. Don’t forget to check out the on-site museum.

Buccaneer Beach Bar

This family-friendly eatery has a fun and diverse atmosphere. Every day is excellent to take your clan to Buccaneer Beach Bar, but for even more, head there on Friday nights for blazing fireballs on the beach. There are children’s movies on a big screen, and a host DJ who plays a collection of lively music. You’re just steps from the water, so be swim-ready!

Tri-Sport Bike Tour

Get on a bike from Tri-Sport to see the island from a different angle. Biking is great for sightseeing, exploring and a bit of exercise. This option also lends itself to some healthy competition. Why not see who is the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) of your family? Book a tour package or go off-road to conquer hills and coastlines.

Seaside Nature Park

The early adventurers took to horseback, and so can you to conquer the hillside trails of the island. End a great and exhilarating ride by taking the horses for a swim to cool them and you off in the ocean. There are also kayaks, a playground and a petting zoo here in Cay Bay. The park covers 30 acres of a former plantation. Nature-loving children will find a lot to discover here.

Loterie Farm/Fly Zone

Fly through and above the trees on the Fly Zone for a heady rush. Hike up to the highest point on the island — Pic Paradis (Paradise Peak) — and you’ll be rewarded with amazing views of Marigot and Anguilla.

Le Galion Beach

Popularly called “baby beach” for its shallow wading and calmness, this is the perfect stretch of shore for a family picnic. Pack a basket and blanket and head out for hours of fun in the sun. Feeling sporty? Indulge in water sports, such as kitesurfing.
