Lieve About St Maarten and Aruba

Lucky Days for Lieve: A Caribbean St. Maarten to Aruba Trip

Today’s St. Maarten visitor interview is with Lieve van ‘t Hullenaar (14) from the Netherlands. She combined a stay on St. Maarten with island hopping to Aruba, providing an opportunity to compare and collect travel tips for both popular Caribbean destinations.

Thinking of great moments on the dual nation island, she vividly remembers the restaurant Chesterfields, overlooking the Philipsburg Marina. Her mother and her enjoyed breakfast twice at the well known place. “Service as well as food were great, and of course the view of the first ships rolling in and out of the marina and the cruise port“.

Other great restaurants she enjoyed were those at Grand Case Beach Club with its scenic wooden walkway overlooking Grand Case fishing village, and the bar at Belair Beach Hotel where Lieve enjoyed a pleasant stay with her mother. After some mango and ananas smoothies at happy hour, taking a swim at night became one of her favorite memories of St. Maarten.

Then, there was the zipline. Lieve recommends the “Flying Dutchman” not just for the thrill, but also for the amazing view from Sentry Hill.

Pinel Island was a well remembered hangout too because of the sea turtles spotted by the ladies around the island. Other animal fun was enjoyed with petting cats in the Fort Willem area, known for their furry, large tails. In general, van ‘t Hullenaar enjoyed nature on St. Maarten. “A lush green island, with a great variety of birds”. Monkeys were also an appreciated addition to St. Maartens biodiversity.

After her stay on St. Maarten, she left for Aruba before returning to the Netherlands. “Aruba had more wind in comparison, and offered a different experience”. We leave it to our colleagues in Aruba to continue Lieves travel story from here!
