1. The St. Maarten Heineken Regatta
The St Maarten Heineken Regatta has been held for over 40 years, the is the most famed and largest regatta of the Caribbean. Next to hundreds of sailing boats competing in various classes, the regatta is well known for its major stars at its concerts.

2. SXM Boardwalk Triathlon
The annual Boardwalk Triathlon takes place in June on the Philipsburg Boardwalk. The competition is divided over three distances:
• Try-A-Tri – 300M Swim, 7Km Bike, 2.5Km Run
• Sprint – 750M Swim, 20Km Bike, 5Km Run
• Olympic – 1500M Swim, 40Km Bike, 10Km Run
Categories are in place for age, gender and individual versus team.

3. Caribbean Multihull Challenge
The Caribbean Multihull Challenge is the islands’ second largest regatta. This sailing competition centers around multihull sailing ships. The February event has the St Maarten yacht Club as its base of operations – contact them if interested!

4. St. Martin Day Relay Race Around the Island
Whereas St. Martin Day or the 11th of November is one of mostly parties, the Relay Race Around the Island allows to start off fit as a good beginning of all the binational festivities. Teams can sign up with in total 11 colleagues, friends or family members. Every participant of the team will take care of a leg between 3 and 4 kilometers.

5. Beat the Marines
Beat the Marines is an amphibious cross in which six-person teams need to overcome an obstacle course, followed by a paddling competition along the boulevard. The goal is to set a competitive time and try to beat the marines. Military teams, law enforcement and civilian competitors of both sides of the island of St. Maarten / St. Martin and beyond compete in this toughest athletic event on island, centered around the Philipsburg boardwalk.
This event started in contribution to the 350th celebration of the world’s oldest marine corps in 2016, but became a yearly event inviting sport teams to try to beat the St. Maarten marine force.

6. St. Maarten Open
St. Maarten has its own “Open” for avid . This two-day 36 holes tournament is of course held at St. Maartens Mullet Bay Golf Course alongside. Nations represented by visitors of its most recent edition came from St. Maarten, St. Martin, Guadeloupe, the United States of America, the Netherlands and England.

7. Trisport Triple Mini Triathlon
The Mini Triathlon offers something for everyone, whether trying a very first triathlon or participating as a seasoned athlete. The event consists of three short triathlons starting at 7:00am, 8:00am and 9:00am. One can choose to do one, two or all three, but prizes will be awarded only to the participants who complete all three races.
