PRINCESS WALK 2024: A SUCCESSFUL STEP TOWARDS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS.
Simpson Bay, St. Maarten – Last week, we stepped into the weekend with the first annual Princess Walk, a meaningful event held in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Organized by Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIAE N.V.) in partnership with The Elektralytes Foundation and The Positive Foundation, the walk brought the community together to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer prevention and care.
The walk took place on the evening of October 25, 2024, beginning with a warm-up session led by fitness coach Learie at 5:30 PM in front of the PJIA Terminal Building. This year’s event, themed “Steppin’ together, check-in together,” highlighted the power of community unity and support for those affected by breast cancer. The slogan also emphasized the crucial role of early detection in the fight against breast cancer, reinforcing the message that awareness and regular check-ups are essential steps in life’s journey.
The event was a resounding success, drawing participants from across the island. The first 100 arrivals received a surprise token of appreciation, adding a special touch to the evening. additionally, pink breast cancer T-shirts were available for purchase, and they sold out completely! All proceeds will benefit The Elektralytes Foundation and The Positive Foundation to support their ongoing efforts in breast cancer education and early detection programs. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who bought a shirt and contributed to this important cause.
PJIAE extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this event a great success, including the organizing teams, participants, and supporters. The commitment shown by the community was truly inspiring, and it is with great pride that PJIAE announces plans to continue hosting The Princess Walk annually, making it a tradition in support of this important cause. To all who participated and supported the event, PJIAE encourages you to keep the spirit of the walk alive by making regular breast cancer screenings a priority. Early detection saves lives, and together, we can continue to step forward in raising awareness.
