St. Maarten Stands Out in Caribbean Journal’s 2025 Top 50 Restaurants List

St. Maarten / St. Martin has once again proven it’s a top destination for food lovers. The island scored big in Caribbean Journal’s 2025 list of the 50 Best Restaurants in the Caribbean, with several local favorites making the cut – and one even tying for the top spot.

Le Pressoir

Taking the #1 spot is Le Pressoir, located in Grand Case. Set in a charming old Creole house, this family-run restaurant is known for its French-Caribbean dishes like the truffle egg parfait and Dover sole. After dinner, you can stroll over to their on-site rum bar, Part des Anges, for a nightcap. Not a bad way to spend an evening!

Ocean 82

Also in Grand Case, Ocean 82 grabbed the #12 spot. With tables right above the beach, the views are as good as the food. The vibe is upscale but relaxed, and the Caribbean twist on French classics like bouillabaisse makes it a standout.

Bistrot Caraïbes

A longtime favorite, Bistrot Caraïbes, landed at #17. This Grand Case staple has been around for over 30 years, offering dishes like a millefeuille of foie gras with mango and pistachio. It’s a great example of the island’s French-Caribbean fusion.

Le Cottage

In the middle of Grand Case Boulevard is ‘Le Cottage’ located, number #19 on the list. It’s a cozy, modern bistro with a warm vibe and inventive plates – the seared foie gras “lasagna” is a must-try!

Sunset Café

If you’re into sunsets and sea views, Sunset Café at Grand Case Beach Club (#35) might be your new favorite spot. The ocean is basically at your feet, and the food, a blend of French and Caribbean flavors, is just as dreamy.

Auberge Gourmande

Set in another classic Creole building in Grand Case, Auberge Gourmande ranked #37. It’s known for its French-inspired menu with local twists, like a lobster pie or foie gras ravioli.

La Villa

La Villa, coming in at #40, is all about fine flavors. Their menu focuses on high-quality proteins, from local fish to duck breast, paired with a strong wine list. It’s also located right in Grand Case.

Emilio’s

Over on the Dutch side in Sint Maarten, Emilio’s grabbed spot #45. Set in a historic stone building at the base of Rainforest Adventures, this place provides a diverse menu, from garlic octopus to pecan-crusted scallops. It’s a great example of the growing foodie scene on the Dutch side.
