THE 43RD ST. MAARTEN HEINEKEN REGATTA LINE-UP TO HIGHLIGHT EMERGING GLOBAL & LOCAL TALENT
DIVERSE ARTISTS PERFORMING DURING HEINEKEN REGATTA
Celebrating the 43rd edition of the Heineken Regatta from March 2 until March 5, sailors from over 25 countries come together to race each other on the water. Besides the racing, there are a numerous amount of parties and events across the island which attracts over 20.000 people. The full line-up has recently been published and looks very promising. The organizers of the Regatta value diversity and bringing people together from all cultures. S0, the line-up for the Regatta events present a of collection international, regional, and local talent with a large representation of Caribbean influences.
The Regatta Village at Port de Plaisance, will be opened daily from 3 p.m. Everyday, there is another theme connected to the performers and their performances. Some of the themes are woman empowerment- with an all feminine line-up, Next Generation- with a line-up with upcoming and new talent, and sustainability- with a sustainable showcase. The line-up promises a great deal of popular DJ’s, bands and singers. The main act on March 5, will be Koffee, the youngest Reggae artist and also only female to be awarded in the best Reggae album category for a Grammy award.
Most of the parties will take place in so-called Green zones. Green zones are used as a extension of the Regatta’s Umbrella so that the setting is more diverse. The Green zones this year are Lotus Night club, Soggy Dollars, Moonbar, Eleve8 and Bikini Beach, Orient Bay Here again, the line-up includes lots of international DJ’s and artists. Organizers stated that ”The artists and music genres represented in the 43rd edition reflects the melting pot of the island of St. Maarten, paving the way for electronic music, appreciation for reggae and its influences on our culture, bringing forth sensational Caribbean music, and all in all a complete package of what the event can offer – a hybrid of global & local talent, with many of these artists playing on St. Maarten/St. Martin for the very first time.”
The Heineken Regatta has become a world-class sailing event and brings a great amount of joy and excitement to the island of St. Maarten.
