THE DAILY HERALD: ATTENDEES FROM OVER 50 COUNTRIES ARRIVING FOR SXM MUSIC FESTIVAL
SXM FESTIVAL IS AROUND THE CORNER
From March 8 until March 12, the sixth edition of the SXM Music Festival will take place on St Maarten at Happy Bay and some other venues. Tuesday, there was a press-conference at the Hommage hotel. Attendees were the Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication, tourism office directors, festival organizers and the artist director.
Festival organizer Krystal stated that the festival attracts people from over 50 countries instead of 35 countries previous editions. The average age lays at 34 years old. At the festival, Electronic dance music is mostly being played and there will be a lot of international DJ’s as well as creative artistic installations.
This year there are a couple of new thigs that will be introduced regarding the festival. One of the new concepts is called ‘made in the Caribbean”, there will be gin from Grenada, rum from Marie Galante, and vodka from St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, called Mutiny. The festival wants to promote the local and regional beverages with this initiative. The festival also has a new partnership with the Voyager ferry, offering special packages for residents of St. Barths to enjoy the festival.
St. Martin Tourism Office President Valérie Damaseau like to thank SXM festival for believing in St Maarten as a suitable destination as well as the minister for contributing so much to the festival. Everybody is looking forward to the festival and are all excited.
