In a beautiful old plantation house between Orient Bay and French Quarter / Quartier d’Orleans, one finds the Amuseum Naturalis, ran by the Les Fruits de Mer foundation. Volunteers have created a great collection of nature photos, historical insights and other collections worth visiting.
The building is located in the Old House, an old plantation house of the Beauperthuy family. Parts of its exhibition are about the architecture of St. Maarten / St. Martin in the olden days, and the property is a great example of various techniques explained by the museum volunteers.
Entry is free of charge. Make sure you visit the back of the property too, with an amazing view over Orient Bay Beach and Le Galion.
Les Fruits de Mer organizes events like Endemic Animal Festival and Migratory Bird Festival at Amuseum. See when you can take part in the next one on our St Maarten Events Calendar!
Amuseum Naturalis can be found on the French Side.
