Some people say the best way to really get to know a new area is on the seat of a bike. This tour takes you on a journey through Sint Maarten/Saint Martin. Starting from Philipsburg, you’ll meet your guide and get a brief introduction to cycling in St. Maarten and our Trek hybrid bicycles you’ll be using for your tour. Once everyone is ready we will lead you out of Philipsburg past the Great Salt Pond which played a major role in the history and economy of the island beginning in the 1600’s.
After a short sustained climb, you will enjoy a long descent to the charming Oyster Pond Bay, a quaint residential area situated on a lagoon shared by the Dutch and French sides of the island. You will continue on, crossing from the Dutch side to the French St. Martin along the eastern coastline where you’ll have the opportunity to see magnificent views of the rugged Atlantic coastline and our neighboring island of St. Barths. Your pedaling will soon bring you to the beautiful Galion Beach and views of Orient Bay, the island’s most famous beach and referred to as “the pearl of the Caribbean”.
You will return to Philipsburg via French Quarter which is located in the middle of the island, for a total of 30kms/18 miles of hilly terrain.
