A Watersports Mecca

St. Maarten/St. Martin is a playground for water lovers.

The island has been renowned for its rich variety of excursions and trips. If you want to get a real feel for the tropical paradise you’ve chosen to visit, just jump right in. St. Maarten / St. Martin is surrounded by the warm, richly hued waters of the Antilles Archipelago, and that means one thing for active vacationers: It’s time to play!

Watersports beyond sailing and diving

Let go of those workaday worries and discover why wetter is better — above and below the waves. Make like the dolphins and swim like the water is your home, relax on a sailing tour, grab a board and ride the surf, dive deep and hang with schools of multi-colored fish, or hook up with a parasail and fly high above the coast. But there is more watersports fun on St Maarten / St Martin, and we will give you some handles.

Maybe there’s a water sport you’ve long wanted to try but thought you didn’t have the time. Well, now you do, and there are plenty of island experts on hand to guide you every step of the way.

Active watersports

For those sports fans looking to be the captain of their own vessel, take out a kayak or a board! Our experts below also know where it is best to go kite surfing. Kayak tours can be at sea or in the Simpson Bay Lagoon.

Relaxation near sea

For those looking for a more laid back holiday, you can also take out a motor boat charter or jetski of your own, and decide where you want to go.

Also, what about a boat tour to other islands like St Barths and Saba?

Another way to enjoy yourself at sea is to use a resort daypass.

Where to do water sports excursions

On the Dutch side, most watersports are concentrated around the Simpson Bay and Great Bay / Little Bay areas. Our trips recommendations:

Aquamania at Simpson Bay Resort Marina offers motor boats and boats to other islands. They also have a station at Divi Little Bay Resort for pickups and jetskis.

Trisport offers a wide variety of tours for the more active vacationer, including guided tours.

For those after sailing and diving / snorkeling excursions, see our dedicated pages. So what are you waiting for? Make a splash!

Check out the St. Maarten auction site to see if  there are any water excursion deals available!

How to get to the excursions?

See our St. Maarten buses page how your excursions can be reached via the St. Maarten minivan bus system. See for an overview of St. Maarten taxis and taxi rates to the various activities should you want to take a cab to your excursion.
